Be savvy about your jewelry:
Jewelry Tips
No watch is truly waterproof. Be careful!
Don’t
wear your metal watch like a loose bracelet; it will scratch the crystal
and band. Wear it snugly.
Is your
jewelry covered by your insurance? Call your insurance agent to find out
what documentation you may be lacking. Then find a Certified Gemologist
Appraiser to write a thorough appraisal for you; and keep them updated at
least every five years.
Have
your rings and settings professionally checked every 6 months for
security.
Don’t
put your white gold rings in chlorine bleach. It can weaken the
metal.
Don’t
sleep in your herringbone chains or wear pendants on them. Always lay them
out flat when not being worn.
If you
always wear your wedding set together, have them soldered to wear as one.
If you
wear your jewelry to the lake, be prepared to never see it
again!
Synthetic gemstones have been around for centuries. Just because
something is old, it isn’t necessarily natural or valuable!
Pearls
should always be strung with a knot in between each bead, for safety and
durability.
Don’t
ever wear pearls while they are wet. Wet silk is weak; lay them out for 24
hours for the silk to dry.
Never
put your pearls on before your hairspray and perfume. Put the pearls on
last, to keep these contaminants off them.
Platinum
and gold are entirely different metals. Gold can be yellow or white, but
platinum is always white.
